Matteo Gofriller Raise the subject of Venetian cellos, and players excitingly mention their great depth and powerful sound. The Gofriller captures the vibrant, penetrating tonal quality of the original. True to the maker's intent, the very characteristic craftsmanship achieves a perfect level of grace and balance. Although the pattern is built on a grand scale, it is easy to play due to its relatively narrow upper bouts. Special care has been taken with the wood selection, arching, and graduation to produce an instrument ideal for solo, orchestral, and chamber music. The cello responds to the player's inner voice with its agile response and ample, rich, and warm tone.

All of the tonewood is from European sources and is naturally aged for at least 10 years and is selected from their own stock. Wood selection is assisted by using high-end scientific measurements and the highly trained, expert eye of Bernd to ensure the wood has the most favorable inherent acoustical properties which is a critical factor in making world-class modern instruments. Bernd Dimbath works closely with two Dutch scientists combining 300 years of violin making tradition with 21st century acoustical research.
Francesco Ruggieri (1645-1700) was a student of Nicola Amati and worked as a resident apprentice in Amati's workshop. He is known for combining the tradition of the Cremonese school with quite innovative ideas to improve the tonal quality and the beauty of the instruments he made. The result were quite broad cellos with elevated arching and widened f-holes. The sound is sophisticated and wonderfully rich and clear.

After examining renowned maker cellos and actually making cellos for many years, I have opened my mind to incorporating different ideas resulting in developing my own personal style. Although unique in style, the pattern relates closely to the Stradivarius. The combination of Cremonese style arching and splendid varnish, very attractive choice of wood and excellent craftsmanship result in an instrument of the highest quality both tonally and aesthetically.
